Freedom of Speech At Risk

Hello everyone!

First of all, welcome to my new blog! I am so glad that you have joined me, and I look forward to getting to know all of you through your comments.

Yesterday, Juan Williams, formerly a Senior News Analyst for NPR and currently a Fox News Contributor, was abruptly fired for comments he made Monday night on "The O'Reilly Factor." Specifically, Mr. Williams stated that he was not a bigot, but he added that when he flies and notices a Muslim dressed with his or her full garb, he gets nervous. I, too, am not a bigot, but I agree with him. 9-11 changed me that way, and I imagine that day changed many of you, too. NPR officials then began publicly degrading him, saying his views are his own but that he should say them only to his psychiatrist or publicist. Good grief!!!

Juan Williams' views are more liberal than my own, but I stand with him as a believer in The Constitution and its First Amendment. Mr. Williams can say what he likes whether or not I agree with him because he has that right under our laws! Since when is it a fireable offense to give one's personal opinion when asked for it? Are any of you scared about the way our rights and liberties are being slowly eradicated? I am appalled at the way people like George Soros, Arianna Huffington and the like are trying to silence people who do not agree with them. Anyone with a conservative viewpoint is fair game in their world!

I will tell you all one thing: I will keep speaking out as long as I have a breath in my body! I will keep writing as long as I have fingers on my hand! I have been complacent for way too long, taking advantage of my liberties afforded me by God above. The time is now to stand up and be heard!

Juan Williams, you keep speaking out, my friend! Whether or not we agree with everything you say, we agree that you have a right to say it!

Blessings on all of you!

Peace,
Lara
